I’ve been wagering poker now for about 5 years, I have played cards my entire life beginning with games of Gin Rummy for pennies with my Grand Mother, to all of the various types of Brag and general random games such as Go Fish, Crash and one so eloquently called, card on head casino game. I used to usually win, whatever casino game we were betting and even though I liked to call it skill, it was extremely hard to warrant thinking about the randomness of the games we were betting, so I was over joyed to accept I was having a protracted run of good fortune.

Then came Poker, or more importantly Texas holdem Poker, made famous by a group of Texas card players in the 60’s and since grown into one of the biggest card phenomena ever experienced. Poker is totally the new black, it can be super cool with quite a few of the world’s top superstars racing to have their name connected with it. Just a quick flick through the TV channels these days and you are able to not escape from poker, and of course there’s the fabled World Series of Poker, the Holy Grail and Mecca all combined into one for each individual player.

So with all of this fresh discovered recognition, with so several Tv programmes dedicated to poker, and magazine and book shelves loaded up with quality material written by the foremost minds on poker, when are individuals going to learn that this game is all about position!?

Perhaps I should not get so worked up about this, after all the more individuals who have difficulty with the delicate tactics and methods required for winning regularly at Texas holdem, the better it is for everyone else, correct? I mean, if they can not be bothered to read all of the readily available details about why location is so significant, why need to we bother? We need to just be glad there’s an additional fish at the table!

It’s true, we should not encourage laziness with guidance and aid. Nonetheless, I liken this to a helpful game of football. Naturally the stakes aren’t so good, but when you notice a player struggling, you support them, offer them a few advice, ultimately showing them a method to enjoy, love and be grateful for the casino game as much as you. I am askin all home players to do a similar thing with their poker friends who have not quite grasped the subtleties of wagering position. Help them to grow their respect for the game. Of course, don’t attempt to try this one in your nearby casino, the sharks will not take pleasure in you teaching their lunch how to swim!
