Phil Ivey has been labeled as the greatest poker player in the world by quite a few of the top-ranked professionals. Phil Ivey was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to NJ before reaching turning one. His grandpa taught him one cent-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From that point on, Phil was addicted to poker and wished to discover anything he possibly could about poker. He routinely would tell his parents that he was planning on being a professional poker player. He didn’t let the negative feedback from others kill his ambition of being one of the strongest poker competitors on the planet.

Phil began competing intently after acquiring a fake ID with the name of Jerome. He honed his techniques at the casinos of Atlantic City. The initial number of years for Phil were a teaching experience and winning was not a normal thing at the time. Phil became known at the 2000 WSOP when he achieved 2 final tables and won his first WSOP bracelet, in a $2, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha game. At the final table he destroyed a number of the better known professionals which includes "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

Phil decided to take his skills to the next level and moved out west to Vegas. Phil continues to participate in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players on the planet. Ivey credits his achievements to hard work and an eternal love for poker. Phil states that he’s picking up skills every single day and is very abashed about his accomplishments. He admits to making blunders in each session of poker and always strives to get better.

Despite the fact that Phil has won some large tournaments, he prefers destroying cash games on a normal basis.
