Phil Ivey has been labeled as the greatest poker player on the globe by many of the top professionals. Phil Ivey was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to NJ before reaching turning 1. His grandfather taught him one cent-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From then on on, he was hooked on poker and wished to learn every little thing he could about poker. He routinely told his elders that he was going to be a professional poker player. He did not permit the negative comments from others kill his dream of becoming one of the best poker players on the planet.

Phil began competing seriously after getting a false ID with the name of Jerome. He sharpened his game at the casinos of Atlantic City. The beginning few years for him were a teaching opportunity and winning was not a common thing at the time. He became known at the 2000 World Series of Poker when he achieved two final tables and won his first WSOP bracelet, in a two dollar, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha match. At the closing table he destroyed many of the better known pros which includes "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

Phil made a decision to take his game to the next level and moved out west to Sin City. Phil continues to compete in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players in the world. Ivey credits his success to hard work and an eternal love for poker. Phil says that he is learning every single day and is very abashed about his achievements. He admits to making blunders every single game of poker and always aspires to improve.

Despite the fact that Phil has come first in some large tournaments, he prefers winning cash games on a normal basis.
