Phil Ivey has been referred to as the greatest poker contender on the globe by many of the top pros. Phil was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to Jersey before reaching turning 1. His grandfather taught him one cent-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From that point on, he was addicted to poker and wanted to learn anything he could about poker. He routinely would tell his elders that he was going to be a professional poker player. Phil did not permit the negative comments from others kill his dream of being one of the best poker competitors in the world.

Phil began competing seriously after acquiring a fake ID with the name of Jerome. He practiced his techniques at the poker rooms of Atlantic City. The initial few years for him were a teaching opportunity and winning wasn’t a common thing at the time. He became known at the 2000 World Series of Poker where he achieved 2 final tables and won his 1st WSOP bracelet, in a $2, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha event. At the closing table he defeated quite a few of the well known professionals including but not limited to "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

Phil made a decision to take his skills to the successive level and headed out west to Sin City. He continues to compete in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players on the planet. Ivey credits his success to discipline and an immeasurable passion for poker. Phil says that he’s picking up skills every day and is incredibly abashed about his achievements. Phil admits to making mistakes every single session of poker and constantly strives to get better.

Despite the fact that Ivey has won some big-time tournaments, he likes destroying cash games on a normal basis.
